Origin of Sachima
There are various legends about the origin of the name Sachima, among which two versions are typical. "Version one is full of national sentiment. According to legend, a general in Guangzhou in the Qing Dynasty, whose surname was Sa, was particularly fond of hunting on horseback. Every time he returned from hunting, he had to eat dim sum, and he asked for the same food. Once, the cook, who was under heavy pressure to innovate, accidentally blew up the dim sum dipped in egg white. However, at this time, the general was already urging to serve dim sum, he had to serve it up. He thought he would be punished, but the general ate it and asked what the name of the snack was. The cook casually said "Killing Riding Horses", and later the name of this snack was written down and became "Saqima".
Later, the name of the dish was written down and became "Sakima". Later, "Sakima" was spread to Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia, where it was improved many times to become fluffy, soft, sweet and savory. Lok Kee Bakery's Whole Egg Sachima is made with fresh eggs, malt and brown sugar, and has become one of the top 10 handmade souvenirs in Ipoh.
萨其马的由来
关于萨其马名字的由来,有多种传说,其中有两个版本比较典型。“版本一”充满了民族情绪。相传清代广州某将军姓萨,他特别喜欢骑马打猎。每次打猎归来都要吃点心,而且要求不能重样。一次,背负沉重创新压力的厨子,不小心将蘸了鸡蛋清的点心炸碎了。可是此时,将军已经在催着上点心,他只好端了上去。原以为会被责罚,不料将军吃了赞不绝口,还问这种点心叫什么名字?厨子随口说“杀骑马” ,后来这道点心的名字被写成文字,便成了 “萨其马” 。
后来“萨其马”流传到马来西亚霹雳州怡保,再经过多次改良之后, 口感松酥绵软,香甜可口。樂記餅家出产的全蛋萨奇马更是使用新鲜鸡蛋加上麦芽和黑糖,也成为了怡保十大手信之一。
